Retired General Solomon Rex Nhongo Mujuru is no more

By Hatirebwi Nathaniel Masikati

The late Ret General Solomon Rex Nhongo Mujuru

The first Black Zimbabwe National army Commander and Vice President Joice Mujuru’s husband Ret Gen Mujuru is no more. He died in a fire at his Beatrice Farmhouse last night.

The Zanu PF king-maker has died a bizarre death given he has survived many battles in his career as a freedom fighter and Commander of the army only to succumb to a mysterious fire in his residence. Foul play cannot be ruled out given the raging factionalism in Zanu PF and the timing of his death in the month that has claimed many a hero since Zimbabwe gained Independence in 1980.

Add to that murmurs that he was now viewed as closing ranks with MDC-T and the fate he has met was written on the wall.

Patrick Chinamasa and Afaras Gwaradzimba face Parliamentary Speaker’s rap over Mawere’s Shabanie and Mashaba mines fiasco.

Under Fire  Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa

Tendai Biti : The Financial Advisor Zanu PF has lacked over 3 decades

Tendai Biti  Finance Minister

When he was sworn in as Minister of Finance  Hon Biti made it clear that he was under no illusion whatsoever about the task ahead and would give as much as he takes from his detractors in the party of geriatrics-Zanu PF.

The loathed Professor Jonathan Moyo whose penchant for publicity needs no explanation to any reasonable Zimbabwean was first to denounce the appointment and predict that the Minister would perform at the dismal levels set by failed predecessors Enos Nkala and Dr Samuel Mumbengegwi.

President Mugabe Lied irks Professor Moyo

Professor Jonathan Moyo is at it again frothing his mouth with calls for the arrest of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jameson Timba over allegations they undermined the of or alternatively they insulted the President in contravention of section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].

Ever since his conditional readmission to Zanu PF following years in the political wilderness he was dumped in following the infamous Tsholotsho Declaration that was deemed a rebellious attempt to topple Zanu PF First Secretary Robert Mugabe,  Professor Moyo has been at pains to show that he is a true and loyal Zanu PF cadre with the capacity and intellect to revive the doomed party to its days of glory.

Dr, Mumbengegwi’s Herald spin backfires as internet readers skin him alive

Minister Mumbengegwi

Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi’s attempt to twist the outcome of the SADC deliberations in Sandtown South Africa on 12 June 2011 has infuriated readers of the State controlled Herald and the Zanu PF compromised publication has amazingly gladly published the reader’s negative comments unedited other than in respect of obvious vulgarities in the comments. The uncomplimentary readers’ comments are blunt and damaging not just to Dr Mumbengegwi’s integrity but to Zanu PF as a party.

Zanu PF Anti-sanctions campaign: President Zuma and SADC wont be fooled that easily

The Zimbabwe coalition government or is it the Zanu PF subsector of the coalition government, deserves special accolades for exceeding expectations by securing more endorsements to the anti-sanctions campaign than was initially budgeted for. Well done.

Now that the signatures are readily available we shall be excused for believing that it is only a matter of time before the “illegal EU and USA sanctions against our country and more importantly against “our visionary” component of the SADC and AU foistered government are lifted and we live happily ever after. Surely all it requires is to show the architects of the illegal sanctions regimes how many of our patriots are against foreign intervention aimed at regime change and them being self proclaimed champions of democracy, granting the majority’s wishes. Or are we attempting to cross the bridge before we get to it here?

Emmerson Mnangagwa: When the Crocodile shed real tears

Recently Defence Minister and Zanu PF faction warlord (Garwe –The Crocodile) Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa lived up to the adage that crocodiles shed tears except that in this instance the crocodile is shedding real tears and no the crocodile tears in the adage. Mnangagwa’s anguish over the EU and USA travel ban slapped on the Zanu PF inner circle was self evident in his stupid assertion that Zimbabweans abroad must only be conferred voting rights when the EU and USA have lifted sanctions against Zanu PF leaders. Forget the sanctions against the country mantra he peddles because in this instance Mnangagwa is driven by personal anguish rather than national interest in this instance.

Tsvangirai the realist is back

That MDC-T President and Zimbabwe Premier Morgan Tsvangirai has borne the bulk of the Zanu PF institutional abuse of power is common cause to many. The ordeal he has gone through as Secretary General of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions and MDC founding President is a matter of a harrowing public record of unbridled political vagaries and impunity  by a 21st century State against an individual citizen exercising constitutional rights.

Tsvangirai has; lost his wife and grandson, survived several assassination attempts, and has been; arrested and charged with offences that carried the death penalty on several times, viciously assaulted while in police custody, denied freedom to travel and association, publicly ridiculed  and dispossessed of personal and organisational property under his charge. Amazingly he has triumphed all the challenges and emerged even more popular with the Zimbabwean and International publics alike.

Next Zimbabwe General Election: Exorcise Tobaiwa Mudede's Ghost

For over a decade now Zimbabwe elections results have been rightly discredited as being fraudulent, rigged and misrepresentative of the wishes of the majority Zimbabweans. Among the most common reasons sighted in support of this negative view is the integrity of the Tobaiwa Mudede compiled voters roll that has too many errors to be acceptable as the basis of any credible electoral process.

Often cited irregularities are multiple replications of identical name entries on different Constituencies, entries of names of persons under the age of 18 years or too many entries of people above 100 years as well as existence of   names of known deceased voters and too many voters resident at one address while many intending voters are turned away as their names do not appear on the voter’s roll.

Professor Jonathan Moyo a derseving candidate for political distress

Ever since his re-election Professor Moyo has embarked on a futile personal political crusade that has absolutely no input from the constituency that elected him. Because his political mission is personal and inane he has only managed to disingenuously further blemish none other than himself and Zanu PF following the party’s ill advised re-admittance of the Tsholotsho North legislator with a soiled political career that any serious party would exercise extreme caution about before positioning him in its ranks.

Professor Moyo’s March 2008 re-election by the narrowest of margins was out of the MDC-T largesse. The MDC-T accurately assessed that Professor Moyo, then in political wilderness following his unceremonious suspension from Zanu PF over the Tsholotsho declaration which in turn had transformed him into a rabid critic of the then ruling party,

Mugabe: Former Colonial Liberation War fighters’ last bastion of hope

As health problems mount on the octogenarian Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and revolutionary events in North Africa and The Middle East pan out, panic and pandemonium grips his faithful coterie of brainwashed former freedom and pseudo freedom fighters.

The morale of the former Liberation war fighters and their assimilated youth militia that is the spine of Zanu PF by virtue of their hegemony on the Zanu PF and by extension National power is to say the least, ravaged.

Robert Mugabe: When eye cataracts operation manifest as poliomyelitis

Images of President Robert Mugabe being carted around in a golf cart at the recent Sadc Troika summit in Zambia must send political tremors within Zanu PF.

At a time when the party is deeply divided and its political fortunes at the lowest ebb following defeat after defeat in every election held since 2008, the rapid deterioration of the party leader’s health could not have been more untimely.
